Managing Director & Founder
Dr. Gitlin is the Managing Director and Founder of BluePath Solutions. He started the company in 2013 after working in industry and academia for over 15 years. Dr. Gitlin spent nearly 10 years at Amgen working in Global and European regional offices, across market access related functions supporting research and commercial activities. Dr. Gitlin has launched multiple products globally; and developed pricing and market access strategies for pharmaceutical products across the lifecycle during a dynamic landscape of policy, payment and pricing reforms.
Dr. Gitlin has served multiple roles within the healthcare industry developing and consulting healthcare stakeholders on topics related to HEOR evidence generation, market access, pricing, reimbursement, and value demonstration. He has worked across multiple therapeutic areas with focus on nephrology, oncology, cardiovascular, diabetes, neurosciences, pain, infectious disease. He has and continues to support small molecule, biopharmaceutical, gene therapies, medical devices, and diagnostics across the lifecycle.
Dr. Gitlin is focused on aligning company stakeholders including pricing, market access, contracting, finance, key account management, and health economics on value, market access and pricing related activities to produce a single and consistent voice for decision-making. He is also focused on account specific evidence to translate strategic decisions into external payer value demonstration tools using informed decision-making services encompassing technology, evidence and education.
Matthew holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from University of California, Santa Barbara. He has authored over 50 clinical and health economic publications, and is a volunteer Assistant Professor for the School of Pharmacy at UCSF.
Brian Duffant is a Vice President at BluePath Solutions, providing his clients with insight to the US health care system and deep expertise in creating profitable market access for life science brands.
Mr. Duffant is knowledgeable in the key market access landscape trends impacting biopharmaceutical brand performance. He has launched multiple brands in the US payer environment in addition to developing and executing market access plans for pre-commercial, mid-stage, and late-lifecycle brands. Brian has been quoted as a market access subject matter expert in industry publications such as Managed Healthcare Executive, Drug Topics, and HealthLeaders.
Prior to joining BluePath, Brian served as a Senior Principal in the Managed Markets Consulting & Analytics practice of IMS Health. His consulting background includes a role as Vice President, Business Development for The Zitter Group, a boutique managed care consulting firm. His biopharmaceutical industry experience includes director-level market access roles at both UCB, Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Mr. Duffant’s areas of focus include, but are not limited to, payer access strategy, value proposition development, pricing strategy, contract strategy/execution, contract modeling, payer segmentation, and reimbursement strategy development. His range of experience includes working with both specialty and non-specialty brands across a broad range of therapeutic categories.
Brian holds a B.S. in Business Administration from San Diego State University and certification as a Professional, Academy of Healthcare Management from the Academy of Healthcare Management.
